“Introduction to Agritech Challenge 2024”

Challenge AgriTech 2024

Important Dates: From June 3, 2024, to July 27, 2024

Organizer: The Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises as part of the “Development of Innovation in Agribusiness in Algeria (Innov-Agro)” program.

Objective: Promote technological entrepreneurship in agriculture and agri-food in Algeria.

The Innov-Agro program is co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für InternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH (German Cooperation).

The training program is provided by FUTURIS Institute

Challenges Themes

Traceability and food safety using blockchain technologies and digitalization.

Plant disease management through biotechnology and rational chemical solutions.

Innovative technologies in agriculture, including irrigation water management, sensors, robotics, and big data for agricultural planning.

Soilless agriculture (hydroponics) with the integration of advanced technologies in water recycling and reuse.

Introduction of new technologies in the traceability of agricultural and agri-food products.

-Internal product traceability, control of agricultural input risk levels,

-Digitization of product information,

-Digitization of agricultural production and processing inputs including eco-friendly product packaging,

-Application of blockchain technology for product traceability ensuring transparency and security in the food supply chain…

Introduction of new technologies in plant disease management.

Detection of plant diseases, Development of innovative rationalization solutions,

Use of chemical crop treatments,

Utilization of biotechnological techniques to develop crops resistant to diseases, pests, or better adapted to environmental conditions,

Integrated and biological plant disease management.

Introduction of new technologies in agriculture including irrigation water management.

Utilization of technologies, sensors, and innovative equipment (robots, drones, etc.) for monitoring agricultural conditions (e.g., soil, weather, crops, livestock),

Management of inputs for agricultural production and processing (e.g., seeds, fertilizers, pesticides),

Utilization of big data analysis for agricultural planning,

Interconnection between different agricultural equipment via the Internet to collect and share real-time data, enabling more efficient resource Management,

Precision agriculture in irrigation water management, digital solutions for detecting crop irrigation water needs.

Introduction of new technologies in soilless agriculture (hydroponics)​​

Generalization of soilless cultivation to meet the challenges of drought,

Optimization of irrigation water use during periods of scarcity thanks to controlled systems

Recycling and reusing irrigation water to reduce water consumption

Integration of advanced technologies (humidity sensors, real-time monitoring systems) for precise management of water resources

Minimization of waste through rigorous nutrient administration Promotion of sustainable and resilient agriculture in the face of climate change

Formation et Accompagnement: Sessions en présentiel et virtuel pour affiner les solutions.

Support Financier: Prise en charge des frais lors du bootcamp et de la semaine de coaching (hebergement et restauration).  Max 2personnes par équipe pour le bootcamp et max 1 par equipe pour la semaine de coaching
